Allison Turner, LMFT
Beginning a new chapter in life can be challenging- I know first-hand how difficult new transitions in life can be. Hi there! My name is Allison, I want to congratulate your strength and resiliency in seeking therapy. Therapy can sometimes be nerve-racking and even daunting at first, though as time progresses therapy can be full of happiness, relief, positivity, and self-growth. It is my hope that together we are able to work throughout your therapy, to establish a positive therapeutic relationship and reach goals that you have set that will further assist you in years to come.
As a therapist, I aim to establish a strong therapeutic relationship- one that is judgment-free, affirming, provides support, and is motivating to encourage growth and positivity in your life. It is said that a strong therapeutic relationship is a critical factor in the effectiveness of therapy, I strongly believe this. That is why the first few sessions with me will be our time for us to express your story, the goals you wish to accomplish during our time together, and your best hopes for therapy. I will work to assist you in achieving your goals, and provide you with strategies to help you cope with any difficulties that you may face along the way. Along with a strong therapeutic relationship I aim to provide you with a safe and welcoming environment, one where you may feel comfortable sharing your thoughts with me.
You are the expert of your life and have been able to overcome so much already, the great part of therapy though is that you do not have to do this alone. Together we may discuss and identify any adversities that you are facing with a positive outlook and develop the skills to cope with any bumps the road may have ahead.
A bit about myself: I am a born and raised Austinite, I graduated from University of Texas in Permian Basin with a degree in Psychology in 2016. I began my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University, earning my degree in 2022. My professional background includes working with individuals and couples. I have worked with couples assisting with intimacy and infidelity issues as well as individual clients on issues such as grief and loss, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, and childhood traumas. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, taking my dog on long walks, listening to music, and crafting.
Please reach out if you have any questions or a potential interest in working with me. I can’t wait to walk alongside you in your next chapter in life!
