“Nature held me close and seemed to find no fault with me.” Leslie Feinberg
Hello!! I’m so excited to see you here taking steps to learn, grow, and heal. Finding a counselor who works for you can be exhausting at times, but just the fact that you’re here and looking around means you’re headed in the right direction.
I work well with people who are looking for in-depth discussions on how to gain insight and build compassion for themselves, as well as want to improve on the already innate skills we possess in taking care of ourselves. Within all of us are healthy and unhealthy coping skills- I hope to help you flush out and reinforce healthy ones while also letting go of the shame we feel for our unhealthy ones. We’re humans! We won’t get it right every time and that’s ok. Genuineness, authenticity, and non-judgmental acceptance with a healthy dose of empathic confrontation are main tenants of how I approach both my work and my life, so if that’s something that resonates with you it would be a pleasure to see if we are a good fit for your healing journey.
I’ve worked with a wide variety of people and hope to explore all walks of life. From families with unhealthy power structures to teens with severe mood disorders to couples looking to explore polyamory or ethical non-monogamy to individuals just hoping to find a space to talk, I enjoy getting to know people and helping them learn about themselves and how they operate in the world. I focus heavily on the ways our identities impact how we are able to navigate the world and the importance of addressing the intersectionality of those identities. Sometimes it feels like the world is working against you and sometimes that’s true- I want to help figure out what can be done and what needs to be let go. Balance is key, so let’s figure out what that looks like for you!
Life can feel incredibly lonely at times, and the world can be an almost unbearably harsh place, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t good out there. Together we can explore the people you keep, the life you lead, and the choices you make so that you can find kindness and pride in the person you are. It takes a lot of courage to admit you need some support, and I hope you’re proud of yourself for taking this step and reaching out. You have your own incredible and unique story, and I would love to get to know you and all the multitudes you contain.
