Isaac Gallegos, LPC
“Something did happen to me somewhere that robbed me of confidence and courage and left me with a fear of discovery and change and a positive dread of everything unknown that may occur.” Joseph Heller
Something has happened. It may be something painfully apparent. A loved one has tragically passed, or a relationship has come to a bitter end. It can also be something agonizingly vague. A nagging sense that something just isn’t quite right anymore. Over the course of many years or mere moments we may find ourselves somehow different. Changed. Grasping for clarity, but mired in turmoil.
What I offer in therapy is a professionally trained attentiveness to the intricacies of your ongoing journey and consequent struggles. From the objective and unbiased perspective of the therapeutic context, I strive to assist you in exploring what has happened, what is going on now, and how best to address your current challenges. My goal is to gradually earn your trust, and forge an investigative partnership with which to gain insight and awareness about yourself and how you relate to others. Sessions will at first be a process of information gathering and exploration of what has led you to seek therapy. We will collaborate in determining short term and long term goals, and begin a process in which I can become familiar with your unique experiences and identity. An overall goal for therapy is to form a unique relationship in which I can thoroughly gain an understanding of who you are, how you have adapted to life struggles, and identify coping methods that may be in need of re-adjustment.
Our work will vary according to the nature of what you’re faced with. At times there will be thorough exploration. In other instances there will simply be quiet space to heal. I offer a balance between structure and openness to the inevitable shifts in direction that occur throughout therapy. I employ theoretically informed techniques paired with delicate sensitivity and respect for the uniqueness of each client I meet. Our exploration will only ever reach the depth and direction that you deem me trustworthy of addressing. My hope is that by the end of our work together, you will have gained what you need in the way of insight and self-awareness to adequately enact meaningful change or effectively adapt to the change that has occurred in your life.
