Jennifer "Jen" Herz, LCSW
Hello! Congrats on taking the first step in your therapeutic journey. By coming to this page, you’ve already got one foot in the door.
Picking a therapist can be a daunting task, so I’ll give you the lowdown on how I like to run things in the therapy room. I can promise you that I will listen with a non-judgmental, compassionate ear, while encouraging you to be honest and think freely. However, I don’t shy away from being candid when I believe it will assist you in reaching your goals. We will work together to develop skills and strategies that will enable you to become your best self.
Now, a little bit about me. I graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2018. After working in the corporate world for a couple of years, I decided to pursue a social work degree from the University of Texas at Austin. During my time at UT, I provided therapy at an affordable counseling center where I worked with people from differing backgrounds and varying identities.
As far as my therapeutic lens, I’ve always been a research nerd and I love to keep up with all the newest modalities. If it's published, I’ve likely read it. So, I’m always willing to try something new. Whether that is something I discover or something you bring to the table. I also have a strong background in CBT, motivational interviewing, interpersonal neurobiology, and crisis intervention.
Outside of being a therapist, I enjoy trying new restaurants around Austin, hiking, reading, and finding other people’s dogs to play with.
If any of the information on my page resonated with you, please reach out. I’d love the opportunity to work with you.
