Katie Bloodworth, LPC Associate
Supervised by Sarah Arnold, LPC-S
Hi! If you’re here, you likely need help, but it’s hard to ask for it or you don’t know how to articulate what you need. Working with me, we’ll dive into what you want out of the therapeutic experience and brainstorm ways to achieve those goals together. Therapy is a great tool to engage in self-reflection and have someone there to witness your human experience. Therapy is also hard work, which is why I approach it from an encouraging, compassionate, and authentic place. I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to process everything you need to. I will also encourage and prod you in ways you might not experience in other relationships in your life.
I tend to work with clients who are experiencing distress in their relationships: friendships, romantic partners, familial relationships, coworkers, etc. Because of this, I have been trained in Levels 1+2 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which is a helpful tool for all relationships, not just romantic partnerships. I also see couples using this training. Being in relationship with others is one of the biggest sources of growth and transformation, and it has the power to heal the world. I know this from personal experience, so I also bring an added humility to the nature of the therapeutic work.
I also work with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, or general distress from their life. I tend to work with clients from a person-centered lens. All this means is that I believe that you are the expert of your life, and this is your journey. I will bring tools and a safe space for you to reflect in. I also tend to look at things from a systems lens, trying to help clients see how things are connected.
A little about me: I grew up in a small town in the Texas panhandle. I went to Texas A&M for my undergrad degree in marketing and spent a few years in Houston working at advertising agencies before going back to school for my masters in Counseling here in Austin. I love the outdoors here and try to hike as much as possible around Austin. I tend to be a homebody, and enjoy curling up on the couch with my cats, a book or tv show, and living a slow-paced life. I love to travel as much as possible with my husband and we love to host a dinner party with good food and fun games.
