“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” – Martin Luther King Jr
Hi! I’m Sharin. I am excited you are here. It means that you have taken the first step in exploring options for talking with a counselor. That can be a bit intimidating, especially if this is the first time you are thinking about therapy and not knowing what to expect.
Are you feeling like where you are at right now is not where you would like to be? Do you feel stuck in patterns that aren’t working for you? Or maybe life feels so overwhelming that you aren’t even sure what your goals are? I can support you in sifting through all the feels, figuring out what you would like to accomplish, and finding your pathway to achieving your goals.
My favorite part of being a therapist is connecting with people and bringing out their strengths. I have the opportunity to walk alongside clients and explore new pathways to help them experience healing and freedom from the past that may be holding them back from who they want to be. I’m a generalist at heart and enjoy working with a variety of people to address a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationships, adjustment, work stress, life transitions and grief and loss. I value curiosity as it helps me learn which therapeutic approach will work best for you, including elements of CBT, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy and somatic therapy. I often bring expressive arts, such as creative writing, art or music, into sessions as well. I am fairly direct, provide feedback and often use humor in my sessions. I believe that my clients are really the expert on themselves and I am there to provide guidance. I completed my graduate work at New York University and have over five years of post-graduate experience in the vocational rehabilitation field where I helped clients with work related issues and career transitions . I am also a Board Certified Music Therapist and completed a Health Coach certification program with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.
I help clients open doors, see more possibilities, have different perspectives, and realize that there are opportunities for change. Therapy is a safe place where you do not have to be censored, a place to try new ways of thinking, feeling, and being that may feel too risky to try on your own. One of the most powerful experiences in therapy is learning how to trust yourself again and feel confident in advocating for your needs. Let’s work together because you deserve to have these experiences.
If you think my approach may be a good fit for what you are looking for in therapy, I would love to talk with you more. Please reach out and we can schedule a consultation. Best wishes on your journey.
