Become a Counseling Intern at Therapy Austin

Want help finding a great counselor? Call us at (512) 201-4501 ext. 1 or share your contact info here.

We are passionate about training at Therapy Austin! From the first day when we opened in 2012, teaching and supporting new counselors has been our main focus. We have developed an extensive professional development curriculum, offer a wide range of professional continuing education courses, and host diverse consultation groups throughout each week.

In expanding our mission and our reach, we are excited to now offer a Counseling Internship opportunity to Master of Counseling graduate students at Seminary of the Southwest, Texas State University, St. Edward’s University, and the University of Texas at Austin.

We invest heavily in our interns’ clinical and professional growth by providing high-quality training and individualized mentoring. Student Interns will be matched with a full caseload of adult clients, have the opportunity to treat couples, participate in weekly triadic supervision and group consultation, high-quality clinical trainings, and a supportive, nurturing community. We are committed to making high-quality counseling accessible by offering a range of fee options and extended office hours for adults and couples. Interns expand our services to more clients because they can see clients at a lower fee than our Staff Counselors do.

We select Interns enrolled in Master of Arts in Counseling programs at Seminary of the Southwest, Texas State University, St. Edward’s University, and the University of Texas at Austin for unpaid, part-time positions fulfilling the course requirements for:

  • Internship I and Internship II: SSW, St. Ed’s, and Texas State
  • Social Work (clinical track): Texas State and UT Austin, extended placement only
