No one who has lived through their teenage years would call them easy. Our Austin Teen Therapy (also known as Adolescent Therapy Program) provides a safe and supportive space for teens (13-17) to explore their emotions, build resilience, and develop healthy coping strategies. Set your adolescents up for success – this is the time to invest in your child’s mental well-being and emotional development.
Common Struggles That Teens Face
It’s no surprise that teens face more challenges today than ever before. Teens may be dealing with issues like bullying, low self-esteem, or questions about their identity. They may also struggle with academic pressures, social issues, or peer pressure. Through therapy, teens can gain a deeper understanding of themselves, improve their emotional regulation, and build healthy coping strategies that will serve them throughout their lives.
Our therapy for teens is available for kids aged 13-17. Services start at $110 per session.
During therapy, the teen therapist will help your teen explore their thoughts and feelings, understand their experiences, and develop strategies for managing emotions and stress.
Importantly, our teen counseling Austin will also help improve parents’ relationships with their teens and help bridge communication gaps. Often, teens will feel more comfortable having an honest conversation with a therapist than with their parents or guardians. Additionally, therapists will help the teenager understand their parents’ points of view.
Meeting with one of our teen therapists weekly, your teen will form a relationship with someone who understands the unique challenges of being a teenager. Regardless of whether therapy was your teen’s idea, or was suggested by a parent/guardian, a teacher, or even a friend, the expert counselors at Therapy Austin will work hard to build trust and create a space where your teen will feel heard and supported.
In the individual therapy sessions, your teen can expect to talk about a wide range of topics, from school pressures and social dynamics to personal goals and aspirations. The therapist will listen intently and offer insights to help your teen gain a better understanding of themselves. Our goal is to help your teenager navigate the ups and downs of adolescence and support their journey toward self-awareness and personal growth.
Teens should prepare for their therapy to most of their sessions:
Be Open Minded: Approach therapy with an open mind and a willingness to engage in the process. Remember, this is a safe space for you.
Reflect on Your Feelings: Spend some time thinking about what you want to talk about in your sessions. What issues are you facing? What are your goals?
Set Personal Goals: Consider setting some personal goals for what you would like to achieve through therapy. This can help guide your sessions and give you a sense of direction.
Write Down Questions: If you have any questions or concerns, write them down so you can discuss them with your therapist. This can help you feel more prepared and ensure that you get the answers you need.
