Abby Cravey, LPC (Texas), Therapist Intern
Hi, I’m Abby! Reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable, whether you know exactly what you want to work on or you’re simply feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of where to begin. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as you are, feel genuinely heard, and explore what you’re experiencing without judgment.
I enjoy working with clients navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, identity, self-esteem, trauma, and life transitions. I’m especially interested in helping people make sense of the experiences and patterns that shape how they see themselves and relate to others. I’m also interested in helping individuals and couples better understand their relationship patterns, communicate more effectively, and build stronger connections. I strive to create an affirming and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ clients and individuals exploring gender, sexuality, relationships, and identity.
I also have a particular interest in supporting people living with chronic illness, pain, disability, and other medical concerns. I believe our physical and mental health are deeply connected, and that changes in our health can affect many parts of life, including emotional well-being, relationships, identity, and independence. I value creating a space where clients can explore these experiences and feel understood as a whole person.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and person-centered. I have experience incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT-informed skills, and Gottman-informed approaches into my work. I’m also particularly interested in continuing to learn and develop my skills in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I value tailoring our work to each client’s individual needs, goals, and preferences.
I’m currently completing my graduate training at St. Edward’s University as a therapist intern under clinical supervision. I see therapy as something we navigate together, and I would be honored to support you wherever you are in your process.
Outside of counseling, I love spending time with my orange cat, Appa, and have always loved animals. In my free time, I enjoy reading, getting lost in a good movie or show, and playing board games and video games.
