Erin Mursch, LPC (Texas), Therapist Intern

I came to counseling because I have always been fascinated by the ways people make sense of their lives—and by how much of that meaning is shaped through our relationships with one another. I’m especially drawn to the places where life feels complicated: when a couple feels stuck in the same argument, when a family is struggling to understand one another, or when an individual is trying to figure out who they are in the midst of a major transition.

As a graduate counseling student at Texas State University, I am pursuing a career in marriage and family therapy and developing a particular interest in couples, families, and relational patterns. My clinical approach is informed by Adlerian and systemic theories, which help me look beyond an individual’s symptoms to understand the relationships, beliefs, family dynamics, and life experiences that contribute to the way they see themselves and the world around them.

I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative, curious, and human. I don’t see myself as the expert who has all the answers. Instead, I see my role as creating a space where clients can slow down, feel genuinely heard, and become curious about patterns that may have once helped them but are no longer serving them. From there, we can begin experimenting with new ways of communicating, relating, setting boundaries, and responding to life’s challenges.

I am particularly interested in helping clients navigate relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity development, and the sometimes messy process of becoming more fully themselves. I also value the opportunity to help couples and families recognize the strengths and resources already present within their relationships—not simply focusing on what is going wrong.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent my career working in other helping and community-oriented roles, experiences that taught me the importance of listening carefully, approaching people without judgment, and recognizing that meaningful change rarely happens in isolation. Those experiences, combined with my own life experiences and training, have shaped the kind of therapist I hope to become: warm but thoughtful, grounded but curious, and willing to sit with people in the difficult places while helping them find a way forward.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my family, practicing yoga, being outdoors, and staying active. I bring that same appreciation for connection, curiosity, and balance into my work with clients.
