Amber Behrens, LPC
Welcome! I know it can be daunting to find a counselor; it truly is a healthy step forward. I applaud you for taking that step and seeking a counselor who is best suited for you. When you’re carrying a heavy load, sharing that with someone in a safe environment can provide immense healing. I aim to create a place of comfort and compassion, a judgement-free zone where you can let your guard down and know you will be accepted. Therapy creates a trusting relationship that allows you the freedom to be open about the struggles you are facing. This is your path to walk, and I will walk alongside you, helping you gently process emotions and see yourself more clearly in order to create change. You do not have to do it alone.
I received my Master’s in Counseling from St. Edward’s University and my Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Texas (Hook ‘em!). My previous experience was at Seton Behavioral Health, leading outpatient groups. I enjoy working with clients experiencing life transitions, especially senior adults and young people. I am also passionate about spiritual growth, relationships, family dynamics and recovery from depression and anxiety.
I am a native Austinite and live at home with my husband and our boys. We love going on adventures, hiking and exploring, and doing anything physical since they have a lot of energy to burn! I love being involved in my community through my sons’ school, my church and our neighborhood.
I believe we all have a story worth telling, including the harder, messier parts, and I hope to be a soft landing place to hear it.
If you are interested in working with me, please reach out by phone at 512/201-4501, ext. 233
