Bryna Dye, LCSW
Hi and welcome to Therapy Austin!
Reaching out, thinking of reaching out, even looking at these bios can feel like a scary step. Maybe you’re excited and ready to get to work, maybe you’re afraid to hope and be disappointed, or maybe you’re not sure at all about this therapy thing. Any of those are fine—the whole point of therapy is to show up just as you are and get support in having the life that you want.
You might be dealing with issues like anxiety, depression, sadness, grief, loss, sexuality, difficult relationships, and more. In spite of our best efforts and intentions we find ourselves repeating patterns that don’t bring us happiness, satisfaction, closeness, and peace. We can feel detached from our lives—like we’re going through the motions but not getting what we truly want. Or we tolerate things that hurt us deeply and can’t see any other options. It’s hard to know how to do things differently. Nobody is born knowing how to handle these things and some of us got less than ideal help figuring it out!
I want to connect with you and together create a working relationship that feels safe and supportive. Our focus is guided by your goals and we move at the pace that works for you. No topics are off-limits including sex, self-harm, and racism, among many others. I believe that it’s okay to be imperfect and that we all make sense in the context of our lives, experiences, thoughts, and feelings.
About Me—I grew up in Houston, and moved to Austin for college where I earned both my bachelor degree and master of science in social work at UT. I am a mother of two awesome young adults, have more cats than I want to admit, am an LGBTQIA+ ally, and continue to grow as a mental health professional and human being.
A few of my favorite things: cookie dough, purring cats, a sandy beach, a good book, and time with the people who matter most to me.
