Life can often feel like we are carrying a towering stack of plates, expending all of our energy to keep them from falling out of balance and smashing on the ground. We have responsibilities in work, school, relationships, and ourselves, and it can feel impossible to keep everything balanced. On top of that, past traumas, the impact of world events, mental health, and all of life’s stressors may be making that stack feel unmanageably heavy.
Hi, my name is Daniela, and I am here to help you make your stack of plates feel just a bit lighter. Finding the right therapist can be a daunting process, so I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and let you know what to expect with my therapeutic style.
In my office, you can expect a warm, empathetic, and collaborative environment where we can begin forming the building blocks of a healing therapeutic relationship. I work to cultivate a “brave” space and operate from an anti-oppressive, LGBTQIA+-affirming, and anti-racist lens to create an environment where you can explore all aspects of your identity and personhood. I have a passion for working with clients who identify as students, LGBTQIA+, survivors of domestic violence, struggle with substance use, and/or have a history of trauma. In my practice, I pull from a wide variety of therapeutic techniques, but consider my work to be heavily based in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the neurobiological impact of trauma on our brains and nervous systems.
When I am not completing school work for my Masters in Clinical Social Work at UT Austin, you can often find me dancing with my friends, cooking for my partner or curled up on the couch with my cat Stella.
