Emily Field, LMFT Associate
Supervised by Kristen Pierce, LMFT-S
Hello and welcome to Therapy Austin! Finding the right therapist can be a challenging task, and I hope we can help you along your journey!
As a therapist, I strive to create a safe and open environment where you can learn, grow, and achieve your goals. I believe counseling to be a collaborative process where we work together to discover how best to approach and address your concerns and goals. You are the expert in your own life, and I believe the most effective therapy to be one where you feel actively involved and understood throughout the process.
As a clinician, I work with individuals, couples, and families, and I have experience working with concerns related to anxiety, neurodiversity, relational trauma, identity exploration, life transitions, and social and communication difficulties. I tend to take a skills-focused approach to therapy, as I find it important to address not only the impact of our emotions and thoughts, but also how our behaviors and actions influence and affect our lives. As a biracial Asian-American, I am passionate about working with clients struggling with cultural-relational issues.
As for me personally, I was born in Kansas but grew up here in Austin. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of North Texas and my master’s degree in counseling at Texas State University. I have a wide breadth of interests, including art, novels, music, and video games, and a particular passion for research in anthropology, psychology, and history. It is my personal belief that we should always strive to continue learning new things, so I am currently falling frequently in the process of learning to ice skate. If you are interested in working with me or have any questions, please reach out!
