Gabriela Figueroa-Suarez, LPC (Texas), Therapist Intern
Reaching out for counseling can feel like a big step, and I hope that as you read this, you feel as if there is a place for you here. In our work together, my goal is to create a space where you can feel comfortable being yourself, explore your experiences, and feel supported as you work toward the choices you want to make. I work with teens, adults, and families who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship concerns, academic or career challenges, low self-esteem, cultural or identity concerns, or major life transitions. Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to balance your own needs with expectations from family, school, work, relationships, or your community.
Counseling can serve as an opportunity to slow down and navigate challenges in a way that feels authentic to you. My counseling style is centered around meeting you where you are. I’m interested in approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt, Relational-Cultural Therapy, and Strength-Based Therapy. Depending on what you need, we might explore how your thoughts and behaviors are connected, work through difficult experiences, better understand patterns in your relationships, identify your strengths, or focus on small and realistic steps towards your goals.
My background is in psychology, and I have worked with children, teens, and adults. Through my experiences, I have learned the importance of listening to people’s unique stories and recognizing the strengths they bring with them. As a first-generation Mexican American, I also understand how important culture, values, family, community, and identity can be in shaping our experiences. Whether you prefer to speak Spanish, English, or a combination of both, know that this space is yours. As we work together, there is room to talk about both the difficult and good parts of life.
