Seeking therapy demonstrates that you have courage and a desire to progress toward your goals, whatever they may be. Whether you’re taking your very first step on your healing journey, are re-committing to past goals, or need to focus on some new changes in your life, you are in the right place.
I see the therapeutic relationship as a collaboration. You bring your lived experience and personal goals, and I bring my knowledge and experience to help uplift you to where you want to go. I’ve worked with clients from many walks of life and traumatic situations, including intimate partner violence, foster care, and survivors of many types of crime. Everyone has unique strengths to build upon, and yours can help carry you through the darkest of times. Sometimes all it takes is an open and safe space, a fresh and honest perspective, or just the right question to break through the struggle you are experiencing.
I greatly value therapy as a space to learn and grow – both client and therapist. You are the expert on your life, and I learn from you just as much as you can learn from me. I also love being able to see growth in people recovering from trauma. While overcoming life-altering events, or a life that has always been difficult, may feel impossible, you have the ability to change everything.
I specialize in work with survivors of trauma and violence, particularly sexual violence and domestic violence. I also have a focus on sexual health and education, as this can be a topic of shame for many, especially those with trauma related to it. Moving on from having sexual trauma and shame to a fulfilling life on your own terms is what I love seeing in my clients. Building safety, confidence, and autonomy will take time when you have trauma, but the journey is incredibly important and worth the struggle. Whether you have experienced these types of situations or not, my overall focus is to help you not just survive the difficulty, but build a thriving life that brings you joy and fulfillment.
Mental health is so much more than reducing negative feelings or situations. You deserve a life that brings you excitement and happiness, however that looks for you. For me, that looks like playing video games, gardening, and trying new foods. The things that you love may look similar, different, or perhaps you’re not sure what those things are yet. Finding new ways to incorporate and embrace things that you are passionate about in life can be incredibly important in helping you cope.
If you’ve resonated with my therapeutic perspective, I’d love to meet with you to talk more. I welcome clients of all identities and neurodivergence, and if you need additional resources, I can help you find what you need. Taking the step to change things for yourself is huge, and I’d love to celebrate and support you through your healing journey.
