Senior Counselor

Specialized in Movement & Embodied Therapies

The choice to begin therapy takes courage. It’s also the first step in a journey toward healing and growth. I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.

I view therapy as a collaborative process. I prioritize co-creating a restorative space that offers a sense of warmth, openness, and curiosity towards all that emerges. Whether we are navigating the depths of your inner world or the complexity of relationships, together we will discover your internal resources supporting healing, growth, and transformation.

My approach heartfully acknowledges our body, brain, and mind as an integrated whole within a social and cultural context. Grounded in Somatic Psychology and Interpersonal Neurobiology, I work to holistically attend to embodied and relational processes that support mindful awareness and direct engagement with the wisdom of the body.

So what does “Specialized in Somatic & Movement Therapies” mean?

In addition to a strong foundation in clinical mental health, I have extensive training in a specialized form of somatic therapy called Dance/Movement Therapy. When words are not enough, this specialty supports the use of movement, creativity, non-verbal, and body-based approaches in therapy. I’m skilled at gently supporting exploration into how the body and movement can offer change and wellbeing – resources you always have with you!

I hold that the mind and body are interconnected, reflecting and affecting each other. When we move, we are dancing with our nervous system and can directly access the implicit neurological processes underlying consciousness. This ability to make contact with our own physiology and be in embodied participation in the present moment can help us shift the way we feel inside, and support being in relationship with ourselves and others in the way we choose.

How I incorporate somatic and movement approaches is unique for each client. This can look like anything from being in stillness to expressive movement, and everything in between. It’s really about re-establishing a relationship to the body that allows us to more gracefully ebb and flow through life.

I know the word “dance” can sometimes stir up uneasy feelings. Allow me to simplify: our breath is movement, our heartbeat is rhythm… that is dance! And yes, I still offer traditional “talk therapy”. I thoughtfully weave together all of my knowledge and skills to meet you right where you’re at.

Outside of the therapy space you can find me dancing (surprise, I know), trying new coffee shops with my partner, enjoying the rain, loving nature and wildlife, and snuggling my two sweet kitties.

If my approach has resonated with you or you felt a spark of curiosity, I encourage you to take that next step and reach out. I’d be honored to be with you on this next part of your journey.
